VACANCY: Full time contract Health Promotion and Health Risk Assessment Officer (Gqeberha)

The Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa (HSFSA), a non-profit organization, is seeking to appoint one (1) Health Promotion and Health Risk Assessment Officer to be based in Gqeberha. The applicant must be able to fulfil the primary goal of the reduction of cardiovascular disease (heart disease, strokes and the associated risk factors) through various activities, including health risk assessments, health education talks and health campaigns. The successful applicant will report directly to the Health Promotion and Health Risk Assessment Co-lead, Cape Town. This is a 5 day per week, half day position. Must be prepared to work on selected weekends and afterhours.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• A health-related degree, diploma or certified qualification in nursing with an accredited organization.
•Must be registered with South African Nursing Council or relevant regulatory body.
• A minimum of five (5) years direct experience in the health sector within a clinical setting.
• Administrative efficiency is a necessary part of the job.
• Experience in data collection using digital technology for clinical data collection during health risk assessments will be an advantage.
• Ability to collate information for report writing.
• Good and effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Xhosa/Afrikaans. Knowing another South African language will be an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and in a team and have a strong work ethic.
• Ability to be physically able and work at a fast pace when required.
• Must be computer literate (including, word, excel and Google Drive).
•Be skilled in public speaking, public engagement and having a media presence.
• Community based experience.
• Have a South African driver’s license for a manual vehicle.
•Must have own vehicle.
• Must be a South African citizen or a Permanent Resident.

DUTIES WOULD INCLUDE
• Community-based health promoting activities through health risk-assessments (screening), health education talks, participating in community-based events and capacity building.
• Data collection for key health indicators.
• Develop partnerships with key people, communities and organizations, including the private sector, to promote CVD health across population groups.
• Implement activities based on the strategic plan of the Foundation.
• Written and verbal communication with the public, media and partners.
•Report writing
•To continue implementation of the Mended Heart and Stroke Group programme; School’s Health Promotion Initiative Programme and other programmes.
•Take responsibility and manage the Gqeberha office.
•Ability to work within and across programmes.
